Dear Fashion Friends:

Gabriel was waiting for Whitney at his favorite restaurant in Grosse Pointe – Jumps.  He sipped coffee and flipped through the latest edition of Vogue. He checked his smartphone to see if he had any text messages from his friend. She was running late. Our fashion blogger did not mind. He enjoyed the beautiful jazz music on the radio. He talked to the young waitress about this and that. She was looking forward to going to Europe later in the summer. He watched patrons come in and take up the available seating. His fellow customers were in good spirits as they looked forward to a brief break from a busy Monday.

Gabriel looked up from his smartphone and noticed a beautiful young woman entering the restaurant. She wore this exquisite Multi Floral Center Slit V-neck Sun Midi Dress from www.aleyacollections.com. The dress, which has an enchanting V-neck design, has a quilt floral pattern. He loved how the young woman wore her hair and her light use of makeup. His only reservation was her shoes. He felt that beige sandals would have been more appropriate for the setting found at Jumps.  Nevertheless, Gabriel found the young woman beautiful and graceful. Perhaps she is a poet.

He was looking forward to seeing Whitney. They were friends since graduate school. They shared a great deal in common. They both loved history and literature and enjoyed going to art fairs and museums. They also shared a love for fashion. Every day, they sent to each other fashion ideas found on Instagram, Pinterest, or Twitter. For the past few years, they started to collect fashion photography from the 1950s. Some of their favorite photographers include Howell Conant, John French, John Rawlings, and Nina Leen. Some of their favorite models (from the 1950s) include Susan Abraham, Suzy Parker, and Jean Pratchett. Finally, they enjoyed getting together on Saturday evenings, order pizza, and watch a movie on TCM.  But where was Whitney? He hoped she would not be too late. He had to teach a history course later that afternoon.

The young woman waved her hand as her friend entered the dining room. Her friend wore this endearing Front Snap Button Detail Strap Rib Cami, Mini Dress, from www.aleyacollctions.com. Her dress, made from polyester and spandex, has a charming set of buttons. Unbelievably cute, Gabriel thought.  Its spaghetti straps add a something to the attire’s overall design. Our fashion blogger could not help but notice how adorable her friend was. Her hairstyle was elegant, and her use of makeup impeccable. After hugging each other, they sat down and began to gab away about this and that. There were times when they laughed; there other times when they gave each other a gentle assurance that all would well. As the two chatted about their hopes and dreams, Gabriel thought of this Marcel Proust quote: “Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom” (quoted in https://www.positivityblog.com/friendship-quotes/).

Whitney, who looked beautiful, wore a sleeveless turtleneck top and jeans. She also wore a bit of makeup and a simple set of earrings. She and Gabriel embraced and kissed each other on the cheek. After ordering lunch, Whitney and Gabriel talked about many things. Gabriel shared with Whitney photos he took on his weekend trip to Port Austin. He showed her pictures of the Garfield Inn, the pier, and the Lighthouse. They shared their thoughts about the book they are reading for their next book club meeting: John Steinbeck’s Wayward Bus, Gabriel was about to ask a question about the book. Whitney’s smartphone rang. She excused herself to take the call. As he waited, he thought about lucky he was to have Whitney as a friend. Their friendship reminded him of this Albert Schweitzer quote: “In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit” (quoted in https://www.positivityblog.com/friendship-quotes/). Thank you, dear friend.

I hope your visit to www.aleyacollections.com website was an enchanting one.

Sincerely,

Gabe xoxo

P.S. This blog post was a piece of fiction. I hope that you will check out the menu of Jumps. You will not be disappointed (See: https://www.jumpsrestaurant.com/).
